ABL appointed by 50Hertz

0

Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been appointed by German transmission system operator 50Hertz to provide marine warranty survey services to de-risk critical transportation and installation (T&I) operations of subsea and offshore infrastructure for the Ostwind 4 offshore grid connection project.

Ostwind 4 is the fourth project in the Ostwind offshore grid development programme, connecting offshore wind generation in the German Baltic Sea to the mainland. The project will provide a targeted transmission capacity of up to 2 GW, enabling the integration of large volumes of offshore wind power into Germany’s electricity network and supporting wider European decarbonisation goals.

The project includes an offshore converter platform, an onshore converter station, and a 110-kilometre subsea and onshore cable route. Ostwind 4 will be the first project to deploy a high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system in the German Baltic Sea, introducing new technical and marine assurance considerations for offshore installation and cable lay operations.

“With a long cable route and the first use of HVDC transmission in the German Baltic Sea, Ostwind 4 is a unique and significant project. ABL brings independent marine assurance expertise and extensive experience supporting complex offshore energy projects in both the Baltic and North Seas. We look forward to working with 50Hertz to support risk mitigation and the safe delivery of this important transmission link.” Tilo Klappenbach, Country Manager, ABL Germany.

ABL’s German team, based in Hamburg, will deliver independent marine warranty survey (MWS) services covering the marine T&I of subsea cables and offshore infrastructure, as well as the installation of the converter platform and associated assets.

The scope of work includes the review and approval of technical documentation and procedures, marine risk and assurance services to assess the suitability of the proposed marine spread, and on-site attendances to witness and approve all warranted operations.

“Since establishing operations in Germany nearly a decade ago, ABL has built a strong track record supporting clients with independent analysis and on-site marine assurance across offshore wind and transmission projects. We look forward to applying this experience on Ostwind 4.” Klappenbach adds.

ABL is part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA – a global group of technical consultancies in energy and oceans.

As Europe expands its offshore transmission networks and cross-border interconnections, the safe and efficient delivery of subsea cable infrastructure has never been more critical. From offshore wind export systems and HVDC links to complex cable installation campaigns, these projects demand robust marine assurance and effective risk management.

ABL combines multidisciplinary marine and engineering expertise with a long track record supporting the successful delivery of subsea transmission and cable projects across the North Sea and Baltic Sea, from development and installation through to operations and maintenance.

Rhenus reports 30% growth in exports from Spain to Latin America

0

Based on Rhenus volume data, the company’s export volumes from Spain to Latin America grew by more than 30% year-on-year in 2026 across both air and ocean freight.

This strong performance makes Spain one of the best-performing European markets within Rhenus’ network on the trade corridor and reflects growing interest among Spanish companies in Latin American markets.

“Behind these figures lies a very clear reality: more and more Spanish companies are making Latin America part of their growth strategies. The simultaneous increase in both air and ocean freight volumes demonstrates that their trade activity is strengthening steadily,” says Monica Ruebenkoenig, Route Development Manager at Rhenus Air & Ocean.

Spain plays a key role in Europe’s trade relationship with Latin America thanks to its strong economic, cultural and business ties with the region. Industrial sectors continue to underpin these trade flows, with raw materials and chemicals accounting for more than 60% of ocean export volumes to Latin America.

The trend also coincides with a particularly important moment for bi-regional economic relations. The European Union-Mercosur Agreement, which entered provisional application in May 2026, could further reduce trade barriers and create new opportunities for exporters and importers on both sides of the Atlantic.

“The EU-Mercosur Agreement has the potential to reinforce the positive momentum we are already observing. For many Spanish companies, Latin America is becoming an increasingly relevant destination for trade and investment, and greater economic integration could unlock new possibilities for businesses across Europe while strengthening ties between the two regions,” adds Monica Ruebenkoenig.

Rhenus is also observing a shift in the profile of companies expanding into Latin America. Beyond large multinational corporations, a growing number of Spanish mid-sized industrial companies are incorporating the region into their international growth strategies. As these businesses expand across multiple markets, they increasingly require supply chains that offer greater visibility, flexibility and scalability.

“What we are seeing is that Latin America is becoming a natural part of the growth strategy of many Spanish companies, not only large multinationals but also mid-sized industrial businesses. As these businesses expand across multiple markets, their logistics requirements are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Companies are demanding greater visibility, stronger supply chain control, faster responses to disruptions and, importantly, the ability to scale their operations without having to redesign their logistics setup country by country,” says Marc Ortega, Head of Sales Spain at Rhenus Air & Ocean.

With an extensive operational network across Europe and Latin America, Rhenus provides freight forwarding services, customs solutions, warehousing and end-to-end supply chain management, supporting companies from a wide range of industries in their international operations.

Beyond the trade flows themselves, Spain is playing an increasingly important role as a bridge between Europe and Latin America that continue to operate within different business environments, regulatory frameworks and market dynamics. In this context, companies increasingly value a partner capable of supporting them consistently on both sides of the Atlantic while facilitating alignment between teams, processes and supply chains.

“Spain has unique advantages when it comes to developing trade with Latin America. Cultural and linguistic proximity certainly play a role, but so does the ability to connect different business environments and help companies operate seamlessly across both sides of the Atlantic. The figures we are seeing today may be just the beginning of a broader growth trend in both Europe and Latin America as companies seek new markets and more diversified and resilient supply chains,” concludes Monica Ruebenkoenig.

At a time when global supply chains are undergoing significant transformation and companies are seeking new avenues for international growth, the trends observed by Rhenus confirm the increasing importance of the Europe-Latin America trade corridor and reinforce the company’s role as a strategic partner for businesses looking to expand their activities between the two regions.

Kaleido Logistics celebrates 50th anniversary

0

When Juan Martínez began his business activities at the Port of Vigo in 1976, he did this with a clear commitment to serving companies in the region that had export needs.

It was at that time that Vasco Gallega de Consignaciones was founded, a brand that became a global benchmark in the transportation of natural stone. When the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) was founded more than 27 years ago Juan immediately signed up his company as the member for Spain. This cooperation is ongoing today and also expanded into the network membership for Portugal.

Since then, the second generation, represented by Xoan Martínez, CEO and Xosé Martínez, General Director, continued to develop the business, and new companies have been established within the group. In 2013, the group was renamed KALEIDO IDEAS & LOGISTICS, focusing primarily on the logistics sector. Today the company employs more than 300 people and is active in all fields of logistics, including a special focus on industrial project movements, operates from a direct presence and investments in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, China, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, and South Africa.

Wolfgang Karau, Director for the Worldwide Project Consortium, was invited to join the two days celebration of Kaleido Logistics 50th anniversary in Vigo last week and said: “Among the many hundreds of guests from near and far away I was honoured to be able to shake hands with Juan Martínez and his sons Xoan and Xosé, expressing congratulations on behalf of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) and also meeting many of their team at that event.” Kaleido treated all invited guests to a sunset party in a famous beach club, a half day cruise in the Bay of Vigo on the next day, followed by a dinner party in the historical restaurant Palacio de la Oliva in Vigo.

TII KAMAG and PANAV launch distribution partnership

0

TII KAMAG, a specialist in vehicle solutions for in-plant transport operations, is expanding its sales network in Europe through a new partnership with the Czech company PANAV.

Going forward, PANAV will distribute TII KAMAG’s yard logistics solutions in the Czech market and provide customers with sales and service support.

PANAV is a very important company in Central and Eastern Europe with 130-years of history. The company offers a broad portfolio of solutions for construction, agriculture, the automotive industry, and logistics. For PANAV, the cooperation with TII KAMAG is therefore a natural extension of its existing product portfolio. While the Czech company has been producing trailers and swap body systems for decades, TII KAMAG’s yard logistics range adds specialised vehicles for efficient and safe manoeuvring operations within logistics centres, industrial plants and distribution hubs. This includes the KAMAG PrecisionTractor and the KAMAG PrecisionMover, both offered in diesel and fully electric versions. While the PrecisionTractor enables fast and efficient semi-trailer handling, the PrecisionMover has been specifically developed for the precise transport of swap bodies in confined yard environments.

“We have had very positive experiences with TII KAMAG so far. The company is a recognised expert in yard and specialised logistics solutions. We have been particularly impressed by the high quality of the vehicles and the strong focus on customer service and after-sales support. These values fit perfectly with our own business philosophy,” says Michal Hampl, Sales Manager at PANAV.

With its established network in the Czech transport industry, PANAV sees significant potential for introducing TII KAMAG vehicles to the market. At the same time, the company expects the partnership to help attract new customers across additional industrial and logistics segments. “In many companies, internal transport and shunting operations are still carried out using conventional road vehicles. Specialised terminal tractors and swap body movers can significantly increase efficiency, safety and productivity,” emphasises Hampl.

TII KAMAG also sees considerable potential for further market development in the Czech Republic: “With PANAV, we have gained a partner that knows the Czech transport and logistics market well and has maintained long-standing customer relationships. Their strong industry presence makes them an ideal partner for expanding our yard logistics business in the region. Together, we want to raise awareness of the benefits of professional yard logistics solutions and further strengthen the TII KAMAG brand in the Czech Republic. We are convinced that our vehicles can make an important contribution to more efficient, safer and more sustainable logistics operations,” says Godehard Eidenhammer, Head of Sales Yard Logistics at TII KAMAG.

Glaube Logistics completes movement from Jeddah Port

0

Glaube Logistics recently managed the complete movement of a single breakbulk autoclave unit from Jeddah Port to its final site in Oman, coordinating every stage from vessel discharge through to customs and transit formalities, cross-border transit, and specialised low-bed road transport.

The Glaube Logistics team were on-hand supervising the cargo at every stage. Their full scope of services included:

Vessel discharge operations at Jeddah Port coordinated with terminal operators, using appropriate lifting arrangements for the autoclave’s dimensions and weight.

Documentation, duty assessment, and clearance formalities managed with Saudi customs authorities to release the cargo without delay.

Cross-border transit permits and clearance procedures handled for the overland movement from Saudi Arabia into Oman.

The autoclave was loaded and secured on a low-bed trailer suited to its profile, with route planning for a safe overland haul to site.

“From the moment the autoclave left the vessel at Jeddah to the moment it was set down at the site in Oman, our team stayed with the shipment – clearing it through customs, securing transit approval, and supervising the road journey to make sure it arrived exactly as it left.”

After the autoclave was discharged from the vessel, it was moved to the designated handling area under close supervision to confirm the unit was received free of damage. Import documentation was then processed and customs clearance secured, clearing the way for onward transit preparation.

The unit was positioned and secured on the low-bed trailer, with lashing and load distribution checked against its weight and centre of gravity.

On route, transit documentation was presented and cleared at the border, allowing the trailer to proceed into Oman without interruption. Once the autoclave had reached the final destination in Oman, the Glaube Logistics team coordinated the safe offloading and handover.

An autoclave is a pressure vessel used for industrial sterilisation and curing processes. Typically heavy, rigid, and awkward in profile – it is cargo that calls for careful handling and a trailer configuration built for oversized loads.

SNME forms strategic joint venture with Anipsotiki

0

Sarens Nass Middle East (SNME) has formed a strategic Joint Venture with the Greek wind installation specialist Anipsotiki, bringing together SNME’s regional lifting strength and infrastructure with Anipsotiki’s specialised wind installation expertise to serve the rapidly expanding renewable energy market across the Middle East.

The newly established JV has already secured its first major contract, awarded by the Chinese turbine manufacturer Goldwind, one of the world’s leading wind energy companies.

Sarens Nass Middle East was established in 2003 as a joint venture between the Nass Group of Bahrain and Sarens NV of Belgium, bringing together two family-owned industrial groups with deep roots in their respective markets. Over two decades, SNME has grown into the operator of the region’s largest heavy lift and transport fleet, with more than 4.000 cranes and transport units serving clients across the Gulf in oil and gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, ports and industrial projects. It is that combination of local ownership and global engineering capability that the new Joint Venture with Anipsotiki now extends into wind. “This joint venture brings together complementary strengths and a shared ambition to build lasting wind installation capabilities in the Middle East. Our first contract with Goldwind is an important step towards that ambition, combining regional scale with specialist expertise to deliver projects safely, reliably and with meaningful local participation,” said Alhanoof Sami Nass, Regional Director of Sarens Nass Middle East and Board Member of the SNME-Anipsotiki Joint Venture.

This partnership combines SNME’s strong footprint and heavy lifting capabilities across the Middle East with Anipsotiki’s extensive experience in wind turbine installation and specialised manpower dedicated to the wind sector. Anipsotiki has successfully delivered wind projects across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, operating in diverse terrains and regulatory environments. Its specialised wind installation teams bring deep technical knowledge, precision execution and a strong safety culture, all critical factors for the successful delivery of modern wind energy projects.

Together, the Joint Venture holds access to more than 100 pieces of wind turbine installation equipment, including crawler cranes, mobile cranes and specialised installation tools. This combined fleet ensures flexibility, scalability and the ability to support multiple wind projects across the region simultaneously. “Anipsotiki has spent years installing wind turbines in some of the most demanding conditions in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. What this Joint Venture adds is regional scale, the fleet, the footprint and the local presence to apply that experience across the Gulf. Goldwind is exactly the right project to start with,” said Kostas Iliadis, Project Director Wind Energy of Anipsotiki.

For its first contract with Goldwind, the JV will deploy 58 pieces of equipment, including high-capacity crawler cranes and supporting auxiliary cranes, for the installation of tower sections, nacelles and blades. Securing this project shortly after forming the partnership is a strong validation of the JV’s technical capability, operational readiness and combined expertise in wind turbine installation.

The Middle East is entering a decisive phase in its energy transition. Wind and solar developments across the region are expected to generate more than 150 GW of installed renewable capacity in the coming years, highlighting the scale and ambition of the region’s energy transformation.

Through this Joint Venture, SNME and Anipsotiki combine global wind installation expertise with strong regional execution and local content capabilities, enabling turbine manufacturers and project developers to deliver large-scale renewable projects efficiently and safely. “Sarens has worked alongside the Nass family in the Middle East for more than twenty years, and that partnership is the foundation everything we do in the region is built on. This Joint Venture is the natural next step, bringing dedicated wind installation capability to the Gulf at the moment the region needs it most. As a family business, we invest for the long term, and we intend to be a lasting partner in the Middle East’s energy transition,” said Wim Sarens, CEO of Sarens Group and Board Member of the SNME-Anipsotiki Joint Venture.

This first wind contract with Goldwind marks the beginning of what promises to be a long-term strategic collaboration, positioning the SNME-Anipsotiki Joint Venture as a key partner for wind turbine installation across the Middle East. New Tadano AC 4.080-1 for Cantiniau

0

Cantiniau, a French company specializing in lifting, material handling, and transportation, recently expanded its fleet with a brand-new Tadano AC 4.080-1 all terrain crane.

The machine was delivered last week during the JDL Expo 2026 trade show, held at the Palais des Congrès in Beaune.

Frédéric Valentin, Sales Manager at Tadano France, officially handed over the keys to the new crane to Cantiniau during the trade show. “The AC 4.080-1 crane combines reach, compact dimensions, and on-road maneuverability, all of which are particularly important for our day-to-day work,” explains Julien Cantiniau, President of Cantiniau. “Its 60-meter main boom and its ability to carry a useful amount of counterweight directly on the crane will allow us to deploy it quickly and efficiently across a wide range of job sites.

”For Julie Cantiniau, Managing Director of Cantiniau, the arrival of this new crane also holds special significance. “The 80-tonne crane is kind of my gem. I really wanted to bring this class of crane back into our fleet,” she explains. “I’ve known these machines my whole life: we’ve worked with previous generations of 80-tonne cranes on particularly demanding projects, especially in the rail sector and for major industrial clients. I’d even kept the charts from my old sales catalogs! It’s truly satisfying to have this lifting capacity again today, along with all the technological advancements of the new AC 4.080-1.”

With its compact dimensions on four axles, the AC 4.080-1 crane offers exceptional accessibility on job sites. It can carry up to 9.3 tonnes of counterweight and its swing-away jib while maintaining an axle load of under 12 tonnes. Its 60-meter main boom, high lifting capacities at inclined boom angles, and IC-1 Plus intelligent control system make it a highly cost-effective construction crane and, in many cases, reduce the need for separate counterweight transport.

This exhibition also highlights Tadano’s e-Pack system. Cantiniau will receive an e-Pack along with the crane as part of the leasing model offered by Tadano France. Connected to an external power supply, this electro-hydraulic system enables quiet, emission-free operation of the crane, making it particularly well-suited for indoor work, urban construction sites, and nighttime operations.

“The JDL trade show is the ideal setting to demonstrate the capabilities of our range of compact all terrain cranes,” says Jean-Marie Grossmann, Managing Director of Tadano France. “We would like to thank Julie and Julien Cantiniau, as well as the entire Cantiniau team, for their continued trust and for showcasing their new crane equipped with our e-Pack here at our booth, allowing visitors to see how the AC 4.080-1’s transport efficiency can be combined with quiet, emission-free operation.

By offering the e-Pack for rent, we can provide customers who purchase Tadano cranes in the 40- to 80-tonne class with access to this technology as soon as their projects require it.”

With the new AC 4.080-1, Cantiniau is adding a compact and highly versatile machine that can be rapidly deployed for a wide range of lifting operations. This delivery underscores the company’s ongoing investment in efficient, high-performance equipment.
