“K” LINE carries out Emergency Response Exercise

0

On October 8th, 2025, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) carried out “the Emergency Response Exercise” as a part of training to optimally prepare for any major maritime accidents.

The scenario of the exercise developed assuming that an LPG carrier owned by “K” LINE group collided with a tanker while navigating in Osaka Bay. It confirmed a series of emergency response process by setting crisis-management headquarters upon receiving an incident report, establishing communication channel with the ship management company and conducting a mock press conference at the end of the exercise. During the press conference, journalists asked many questions, creating a tense atmosphere to a real conference.

While growing interest in safety and environmental protection over the world, “K” LINE Group positions the safe operation of vessels as the top priority in fulfilling its social responsibility as a shipping company. Moving forward, it will continue to contribute to society by preparing for unforeseen circumstances through large-scale accident response drills and by ensuring daily safe operations of its vessels.

Total Movements executes movement of Coke Drums

0

Total Movements, a member of the Project Logistics Alliance, successfully executed the Multimodal, Door-to-Door Movement of 2 x 643 MT Coke Drums, totalling over 10,200 FRT, for a key project at one of India’s largest oil refineries.

The scope involved Road Transportation from the supplier’s Factory to the nearest Jetty, rolling on the Drums onto the Barge, Barging to the port closest to the refinery site, inland delivery and placement to the Foundation. The operation required meticulous planning and coordination, given the massive dimensions and weight of the cargo. Key highlights and challenges included: End-to-end multimodal coordination, including marine and inland logistics; Operations carried out during foul weather and heavy monsoon rainfall, demanding strict safety controls; Navigating tide constraints at both ports; Securing Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) approvals for the sea voyage; Managing road transportation challenges due to poor infrastructure and ODC movement restrictions.

Despite the odds, the entire movement was executed smoothly and safely, within the committed timelines. Total Movements Team thanks their client for their continued trust, and sincere appreciation to all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of this operation. Congratulations from the Project Logistics Alliance for another flawlessly executed movement.

Hellmann and SkyNet join forces

0

With e-commerce booming globally, the demand for reliable and affordable logistics solutions is higher than ever.

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and SkyNet Worldwide Express have responded by forming a strategic partnership and developing a new cross-border e-commerce solution offering a comprehensive, end-to-end service that connects consumers and brands worldwide. The solution covers all aspects of the e-commerce supply chain including warehousing, fulfilment, re-fulfilment, B2C deliveries and returns management.

By combining Hellmann’s global freight expertise with SkyNet’s advanced e-commerce capabilities, the partners have created a new approach to cross-border trade. SkyNet´s decades of experience in B2C delivery and partnerships with leading global retailers enable seamless digital integration, advanced customs clearance, and reliable last-mile operations. Together, they deliver a service faster than postal shipping yet significantly more cost-effective than express options. Integrated systems provide end-to-end tracking across all regions and transport modes, while SkyNet’s digital tools and API connectivity allow merchants to manage global shipments through a single integration. Hellmann contributes the freight infrastructure and worldwide warehousing expertise to scale operations efficiently.

While Hellmann’s previous e-commerce solutions have been geared toward B2B and warehousing, the new joint product with SkyNet focuses on cross-border B2C distribution: from pick-up, linehaul, import/export customs clearance and delivery, to returns management and customer service, SkyNet delivers complete cross-border solutions daily in more than 190 countries. This positions both partners as a strong alternative to established providers — not only for global corporations but also for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The new e-commerce product will be initially available for shippers based in EU or UK and then rolled out globally.

“Global parcel shipping is our core business. With this partnership, we are combining Hellmann’s infrastructure and market reach with SkyNet’s deep e-commerce expertise to create a true end-to-end solution for merchants of all sizes,” says Tommy Erasmus, Group CEO, SkyNet Worldwide Express.

“Fast cross-border deliveries are essential for sustainable global growth. With SkyNet Worldwide Express as our new partner, we are embarking on an exciting and ambitious journey. Our new cross-border e-commerce solution connects warehouses directly to customers around the world. Together with SkyNet, we combine Hellmann´s global logistics expertise with reliable last-mile delivery in over 190 countries,” adds Martin Habisreitinger, COO Airfreight, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

Richard Heath, CEO and President of TALKE USA, Inc., added, “Hydrogen technology is evolving rapidly, and partnerships like this are essential to bridge the gap between innovation and infrastructure. Operating in Houston, a designated hydrogen hub, gives us a strategic advantage as we scale up clean transport solutions.”

The new trucks will be tailored for TALKE’s drayage operations, supporting short-haul movements while reducing emissions. This initiative is part of TALKE’s broader ESG program, Crafting Responsible Logistics, which focuses on climate-friendly solutions that meet today’s operational needs while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges.

The units are expected to be fully operational in 2026, furthering the move towards TALKE USA’s targets for carbon reduction, while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and service.

With Symbio’s North America Corporation retrofit expertise, TALKE USA continues to lead the way in responsible logistics—where safety, sustainability, and smart technology move together.

TALKE USA, Inc. is advancing its sustainability strategy with the addition of two hydrogen-powered Class-8 Freightliner Cascadia tractors to its drayage fleet.

The trucks will be retrofitted by Symbio North America Corporation, utilizing the group’s proprietary fuel cell system and hydrogen-electric powertrain design to meet the performance and safety demands of chemical logistics.

This collaboration marks a significant step in TALKE USA’s efforts to decarbonize chemical logistics while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.
