Nooteboom adds to EURO PX3 product range

0

Nooteboom further expands the successful EURO PX3 product range with the introduction of a new combination: a 2-axle Interdolly coupled with a 4-axle EURO PX3 low loader.

This latest configuration within the third generation of EURO PX low loaders responds perfectly to the growing demand for higher payloads and maximum deployment flexibility in special transport.

Since the introduction of the EURO PX3 at BAUMA in Munich in April 2025, where the 3-axle version was presented, there has been a gradual expansion of the program. Following the addition of the 2-axle variant at the end of 2025, this 4-axle version in combination with a 2-axle Interdolly marks a further step in optimizing capacity and flexibility.

The new 2+4 EURO PX3 offers more than 1,000 kg additional payload compared to the previous generation, without compromising robustness, quality, or ease of operation. This enables transport operators to move even heavier loads efficiently and reliably.

The 2-axle Interdolly is fully interchangeable with both previous EURO low loader generations and the latest EURO PX3 models. This allows existing fleets to remain flexible and multi-deployable, directly contributing to a lower total cost of ownership.

Thanks to the advanced steering system and optimised vehicle configuration, the 2+4 EURO PX3 better meets the requirements for exceptional transport. In practice, this means that transport operators can obtain long-term permits easier (instead of single use) for longer vehicle combinations. In addition, the use of a second driver is less often required. The driver also has extra steering angle available via manual control for maneuvering in tight situations.

Like all models in the EURO PX3 series, this new 2+4 configuration benefits from the latest technological developments. Key advantages include: Increased payload capacity for heavier loads; Wider U-Trough for additional space and flexibility; More loading space for optimal efficiency; Large steering angle for superior maneuverability; Optimised steering system for minimal tire wear and favorable permits; Lightweight yet robust chassis for maximum reliability; New design featuring the latest technical innovations; Reduced maintenance for cost-effective operation.

These features make the EURO PX3 one of the most advanced low loaders in the industry, designed to handle the toughest transport challenges with precision and reliability.

Balena completes complex project

0

Balena Projects have successfully completed another complex project cargo movement of an oversized self-propelled unit from Canada to the USA for shipping to Brazil.

The cargo was professionally handled throughout the project, from loading at the shipper’s facility in Canada to loading onboard the vessel at the US port of export. Their scope included inland transportation from Canada to the USA, arrangement of customs bonds, and securing all required oversized permits.

In line with the customer’s requirements, a detailed site survey was conducted prior to the shipment. The surveyor inspected the cargo condition, storage environment, and loading operations during pickup to ensure full compliance and safe handling throughout the process.

The entire movement was carefully planned and executed by Balena Projects, with close coordination across inland transport, port operations, and vessel handling. Every stage was managed with precise attention to timing, documentation, and operational requirements, ensuring the cargo was delivered safely, efficiently, and under full control from origin to export loading.

Broekman expands capacity in Rotterdam

0

Liebherr and Broekman Logistics present a new heavyweight to the Port of Rotterdam at the Broekman Project Services terminal.

The new crane is one of Liebherr’s flagship mobile harbour crane models, offering a lifting capacity of up to 308 tonnes and designed for heavy and oversized cargo operations.

For this terminal, the crane has been engineered with custom support pads to meet the specific conditions of the quay. Its configuration is tailored for project cargo and heavy-lift operations, where high load charts, stability and precision handling are critical. With the LHM 800, nicknamed Titan 1, Broekman strengthens its terminal capabilities while adding a new level of lifting performance to Rotterdam’s maritime operations.

The arrival of the LHM 800 marks a further step in the cooperation between Broekman Logistics and Liebherr. The official presentation of Titan 1 took place alongside the opening of the Broekman Logistics Heavy Lift Centre in Rotterdam.

“The LHM 800 gives us the lifting performance and flexibility to handle larger and more complex cargo at our quayside,” says Rob van Dijk, Director Terminal & Shipping at Broekman Logistics. “Combined with our indoor lifting capacity of 700 tonnes by overhead crane, it strengthens our position as a heavy-lift specialist in Rotterdam.” The crane fits Broekman Logistics’ terminal ambitions and reflects the strong cooperation with Liebherr, where we worked together to translate quay requirements into a practical solution.

From an engineering perspective, this project required careful coordination across all parties involved. The combination of high lifting performance and low ground loading called for a tailored support arrangement, with custom pads developed to suit the quay structure and operating environment.

Site-adapted load distribution is an important enabler for high-capacity crane deployment. The result is a configuration that preserves the crane’s operational strength while meeting the practical demands of the installation site. This is particularly relevant for terminals handling irregular cargo dimensions, concentrated loads and complex lift planning, which are key activities at Broekman Logistics.

“This project shows what can be achieved when a customer’s operational vision is matched by focused engineering and close cooperation,” said Andreas Ritschel, General Manager Sales Mobile Harbour Cranes at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH. “We are proud to place this crane on Broekman’s quayside and to deliver a solution that fulfils the technical requirements of the site while supporting the customer’s next stage of growth.”

The introduction of Titan 1 underlines the cooperation between Liebherr and Broekman Logistics. It also marks an important milestone in a broader series of investments at the terminal, including the expansion of the quayside in 2024, the transformation of a storage hall for Battery Energy Storage Systems, and the further electrification of rolling equipment. Together, these developments support the continued growth of the Heavy Lift Centre as a key location for industrial logistics in Rotterdam, Germany and beyond.

Rhenus Alpina holds its ground in a challenging market

0

Rhenus Alpina Group successfully held its ground in a challenging market environment in 2025 and continued its path of growth.

The specialist in logistics increased its revenue in Switzerland to CHF 454 million while simultaneously investing in modern infrastructure, automation, and sustainable logistics solutions.

Geopolitical tensions, international trade conflicts, and protectionist tendencies shaped the economic environment last year. The Swiss economy underperformed its long-term growth potential, while export-oriented companies in particular suffered from the uncertainty of global markets. However, thanks to stable domestic consumption and low inflation, demand remained robust overall. In this environment, Rhenus Alpina succeeded in capitalizing on market opportunities and further strengthening its market position.

“2025 was marked by high dynamics and challenging conditions. Precisely in such an environment, the importance of reliable logistics solutions, modern infrastructure, and long-term partnerships becomes apparent,” says Andreas Stöckli, CEO of Rhenus Alpina. “We were able to achieve our ambitious goals while successfully advancing key projects for the future.”

The effects of the U.S. tariffs — which were temporarily imposed at rates of up to 39 percent on Swiss export goods — were particularly noticeable. These measures caused considerable uncertainty among many Rhenus Logistics customers and significantly impacted transport and customs clearance volumes.

Nevertheless, capacity utilization at the logistics centers remained high at 80 to 95 percent. The successful launch of the new facility in Möhlin (AG) also generated significant growth momentum. The modern new building strengthens capacities in the Warehouse Solutions division and lays the foundation for further growth. At the same time, Rhenus Logistics was able to further increase productivity in individual areas through additional automated picking and optimized processes.

Air freight in 2025 was also shaped by geopolitical tensions and volatile trade flows. At the same time, shipments from China once again increased significantly.

A strategically significant milestone was the extension of the long-standing partnership between Cargologic and Swiss WorldCargo for another seven years. The agreement took effect on April 1, 2026, and provides long-term planning certainty as well as new opportunities for both companies. This collaboration sustainably strengthens international air freight logistics and the competitiveness of Switzerland as a business location.

Rhenus Port Logistics consistently advanced the modernization of its port infrastructure. Two new Sennebogen cranes were commissioned , significantly expanding handling capacities. In addition, the new Terminal 4 — featuring the largest photovoltaic system in the city of Basel — optimizes processes and strengthens the sustainable energy supply. At the same time, the agricultural sector benefited from an exceptionally high silo utilization rate of 92 percent.

Rhenus Port Logistics is thus further strengthening its role as a central logistics hub at the Port of Basel on the Rhine.

Contargo AG successfully held its position even in a challenging market environment and gained additional market share in the region’s intermodal competition. At the same time, the company continued to expand its customer base. With the start of construction on the new Nordquai 2 terminal, Contargo sent a strong signal of future growth. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.

Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, Rhenus Alpina remains optimistic about the future. Investments in modern infrastructure, sustainable energy supply, and digital processes strengthen the Group’s long-term competitiveness.

With approximately 1,611 employees in Switzerland, Rhenus Alpina remains one of the country’s leading logistics companies and intends to continue this course consistently.
