DEME rides in support of Kom op tegen Kanker

We’re so proud of all our DEME colleagues who once again came together to take on the 1,000 km for the annual Kom op tegen Kanker charity ride.

This time, 16 DEME teams participated: 15 regular teams and one exceptional solo rider. We’d like to give a special shout-out to our colleague and ambassador Koen Vanderbeke, who completed the entire 1,000 km on his own-a truly inspiring achievement!

Over four days, our cyclists successfully dealt with tougher conditions than last year, showing true resilience and team spirit, while wearing our DEME green jerseys with pride. The fifteenth edition of the 1,000 km for Kom op tegen Kanker raised a record amount of 7.4 million euros. More than 1,300 teams participated in the cycling event over the past days, and all the proceeds will go to patient-focused cancer research. We’re proud to make a difference in the fight against cancer. And we’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to support such a meaningful cause.

Therefore, during our 2026 Annual Summit on Tuesday 20 October from 12:30–14:00, we will host a special Ladies’ Lunch for the women attending the meeting.

Designed as a relaxed and welcoming gathering away from the busy meeting schedule, the lunch will provide an opportunity for attendees to connect on a more personal level, exchange experiences, discuss both challenges and opportunities within the sector, and strengthen friendships and professional relationships across the network.

ABL to support Subsea7

ABL Energy & Marine Consultants Brasil has been appointed as Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) to support Subsea7 with the transportation and installation campaign for the SURF infrastructure for the Mero 3 and 4 developments offshore Brazil.

Mero 3 and Mero 4 projects envisage the subsequent build-up of subsea pipelines and associated SURF (subsea risers and flowlines) infrastructure, at both fields in Brazil’s Santos Basin, at water depths between 1,850 and 2,100 meters.

The scope will encompass pipelines installed on Mero 3 (FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias) and on Mero 4 (FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão) Projects.

ABL’s scope of work will include the technical document review and approval of operational and engineering documentation, suitability surveys of the fleet proposed, on-site attendance to witness and approve all critical onshore and offshore operations, approval of limiting environmental criteria, and attendance at all HAZID and HAZOP meetings.

ABL’s operation in Brazil will be responsible for delivering this scope with offshore transportation and installation (T&I) work currently underway.

Bertling joins forces with CleanSea

Recently, Bertling’s Swedish team swapped keyboards for coastal cleaning and joined forces with CleanSea for another beach cleaning initiative along the Swedish coastline.

The activity is part of an ongoing collaboration that has now been running for more than two years, reflecting our long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement.

Together, colleagues from across the Swedish organization spent the day collecting waste and debris from the shoreline. What started as a few bags quickly turned into a powerful reminder of the scale of marine pollution. By the end of the cleanup, the team had collected an impressive 137 kg of waste from the coastline.

Beyond the environmental impact, the initiative also highlighted the value of teamwork and shared purpose. The day was filled with collaboration, energy, and a strong sense of contribution – proving that even small actions can create meaningful change when people come together.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the team from CleanSea for their continued partnership, guidance, and dedication to protecting our oceans and coastlines.

Initiatives like these are an important part of how we work with sustainability at Bertling – not only through logistics solutions and industry expertise, but also by contributing to the communities and environments around us.

Front Shipping AS, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Norway, recently completed a complex door‑to‑door transportation project from Charleston to Oslo involving a 125‑ton cargo unit requiring urgent handling.

The shipment was transported on a gearless charter vessel under a last‑in/first‑out (LIFO) arrangement to accelerate delivery. Upon arrival at the Port of Oslo, the unit was safely discharged using a 650‑ton mobile crane, moved to temporary port storage, and subsequently transported inland using specialized heavy‑haul equipment.

At the final jobsite, the unit was accurately positioned onto its foundation, completing the operation.

Top Noleggio utilises Tadano crane for ferris wheel

When space is tight and precision leaves no room for error, choosing the right machine makes all the difference.

That’s exactly what Top Noleggio demonstrated in a recent job, where two knuckle boom cranes from the Tadano PM Series — a PM 100SP and a PM 150SP — made it possible to assemble a Ferris wheel under particularly challenging logistical conditions.

The job involved supporting the assembly of a Ferris wheel through the lifting and positioning of various structural components. The challenges were significant: limited operating space, narrow access routes, and logistical conditions that ruled out the use of a conventional mobile crane.

“The main difficulty was the restricted jobsite,” the team explains. “Access was tight and the overall setup did not allow us to operate with a traditional crane solution.”

Top Noleggio — one of the most dynamic rental companies in Italy, operating a fleet of over 500 units — rose to the challenge with two machines from its lifting fleet: the PM 100SP and the PM 150SP from the Tadano PM Series.

The tandem deployment of the two machines allowed the entire assembly process to be managed with the necessary safety and precision. The PM 100SP and PM 150SP worked in sync, effectively compensating for the constraints imposed by the site and ensuring smooth operations throughout the job.

“The use of two cranes was essential, as the site conditions did not allow efficient operation with just one machine,” the team reports. “This setup enabled us to complete the assembly safely and with the required level of accuracy.”

The decisive features? Outreach and tip capacity — two defining strengths of the Tadano PM Series that turned a complex challenge into a successful operation.

One of the most critical aspects of the operation was the alignment of anchor pins and structural components of the wheel — movements that had to be, quite literally, millimetre-accurate.

In this context, the radio remote control proved invaluable. It allowed operators to position themselves right next to the structure and monitor every single movement up close, maximising both precision and safety during the most delicate phases.

“The movements had to be extremely precise — almost millimetric — to ensure proper alignment of all structural components,” the operators emphasize. “The radio remote control was a key tool in achieving this level of accuracy.”

The cranes delivered excellent performance throughout all lifting operations, with no issues reported during the project. Their manoeuvrability and precise control significantly facilitated the positioning of the Ferris wheel components, making the process faster, safer, and more efficient.

“The cranes performed excellently during all phases of the job. We did not encounter any critical issues and were fully satisfied with the result,” the team confirms.

The project was completed successfully: the Ferris wheel was correctly assembled and made fully operational, on schedule and without any complications for the client or the operators involved. The client’s satisfaction — both with the execution time and the quality of the work — is the clearest confirmation of a job well done.

“After this experience, we confirm our full confidence in Tadano PM cranes for similar projects.”

Strategically located near key ports, and next to its current KM19 warehouse in Bangna Trad, the new warehouse aims to strengthen ​its​ capabilities in Thailand, as well as the region, in specialized warehousing services.

EZ Link handles passenger ship from Taiwan

EZ Link (PCN members in Taiwan) have handled a passenger ship on a heavy lift vessel from Taipei Port to Subic in Philippines.

The passenger ship was shipped water-to-water using 2 x 400mt cranes. It measures 33.37 x 10.00 x 15.45m / 290wt.

The EZ Link project team carefully planned the complex marine operations to lift the large and heavy ship from the water onto the heavy lift vessel deck and were on board the vessel to monitor all procedures and ensure seamless handling.

The project involved: Monitoring of weather & sea state to ensure conditions are within safe limits (wind, swell, visibility), 4 divers in the water to secure slings evenly and check balance in the underwater hull, After slings where secured safely, the boat was raised slightly out of the water to confirm balance and load security, A careful swing and hoist operation to move the load over the deck using controlled crane movements conducted by the vessel port captain located in a pilot boat surrounding the heavy lift vessel, Ensuring an even weight distribution and proper alignment while the ship was landing on deck, Utilising tag lines to lower the boat onto pre-positioned supports and cradle on deck.

Throughout the project, the professional EZ Link team showed their expertise with seamless procedures despite the complexity of the operations. Their clients were very happy with their timely and reliable service as always.

The EolMed 30MW floating wind project, led by QAIR, is located approximately 20 km offshore from Port‑la‑Nouvelle and Gruissan, in the South of France.

The project comprises three 10MW Vestas V-164 wind turbines installed on BW Ideol’s Damping Pool floating foundations, in water depths of approximately 60 metres.

The first of the three floating turbines departed from the Port of Port‑la‑Nouvelle for the offshore site in December 2025 under the supervision of the ABL Marine Warranty Surveyors, marking the start of offshore installation activities.

ABL, the global energy and marine consultancy, was appointed by EolMed as Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS), supporting the wind turbine integration and marine operations for the load-out and float-off, the transportation and installation (T&I) campaign for the floating foundations, moorings and cables.

Sarens is proud to contribute to a landmark renewable‑energy development in the Baltic Sea: the Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm, Poland’s first operational offshore wind installation.

With 76 turbines of approximately 15MW each and a total capacity between 1.1–1.2GW, Baltic Power will supply around 4TWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power more than 1.5 million households.

Working on behalf of Customer Vestas, with PKN Orlen as the project owner, Sarens is executing extensive offshore wind turbine pre‑assembly works from the port of Rønne, Denmark.

Located approximately 23 km north of the Polish coastline, near the municipalities of Choczewo and Łeba, the 130km² offshore area is one of the region’s most significant renewable developments. Baltic Power represents a major step forward for Poland’s decarbonisation strategy, strengthening the national energy mix and accelerating the shift toward renewable power.

Sarens was selected for this critical phase of the project thanks to our technical expertise, innovative solutions, and proven track record in large‑scale offshore wind logistics. Our ability to think “out of the box” and deliver turnkey engineered solutions positioned us as the preferred partner for the pre‑assembly activities.

Throughout the project, Sarens is responsible for the handling, lifting, and pre‑assembly of the turbine components, including: 76 nacelles (approx. 715 tonnes each); 304 tower sections (up to 228 tonnes each); 228 blades (117 tonnes each).

In total, this represents nearly 289,000 tonnes of offshore wind components handled at the port.

To execute this demanding scope, Sarens deployed a powerful fleet of heavy lifting equipment, including: CC 9800; CC 6800; LR 1350; LR 1300; LR 1280; 80 SPMT axle lines.

This combination delivers the capacity and flexibility required to support continuous component flow, from load‑in to storage, transport to quayside, and final pre‑assembly before offshore installation.

Baltic Power is more than a construction project — it is a major step in the region’s renewable‑energy journey. As the first offshore wind farm in Polish waters, it sets the standard for future developments and reinforces the essential role of heavy lifting expertise in enabling the clean‑energy transition.
