The TII Group is investing a high double-digit million euro amount in the comprehensive development of its Pfedelbach site.

At the same time, the investment reflects the long-term commitment of the Otto Rettenmaier shareholder family from Heilbronn to the future of the TII Group and to Germany as a business location. One key element of the largest investment in the company’s history is the completion of the new headquarters of the TII Group with its brands TII SCHEUERLE and TII KAMAG. In addition, existing production halls will be gradually dismantled and replaced with new modern facilities. Through these measures, the Group is creating the conditions for further growth and strengthening its technological and industrial foundation.

As a company owned by the entrepreneurial family Otto Rettenmaier, the globally active TII Group pursues a long-term corporate strategy through its production sites in Pfedelbach, Ulm and Bawal, India. In Pfedelbach, the new headquarters creates modern conditions for collaboration, innovation and customer proximity. At the same time, the new production halls will provide the basis for future-oriented manufacturing at the company’s site region.

The TII sites, whose roots go back more than 150 years, form the foundation of the TII Group’s development. Over generations, they have built extraordinary engineering expertise, extensive manufacturing competence and a workforce that has shaped and continues to shape the heavy transport industry worldwide.

However, the importance of the Pfedelbach site to the TII Group extends far beyond its history. Germany, and particularly the Heilbronn-Franconia region, provides the environment TII needs to fulfil its ambition as a technology leader and solutions provider. It is here that highly qualified specialists, decades of accumulated engineering expertise and a strong industrial infrastructure come together.

The new headquarters creates space for even closer collaboration, faster decision-making processes and the sharing of knowledge and experience across departments. Modern workspaces, meeting rooms and informal networking areas support both joint project work and the exchange of expertise.

At the same time, newly designed customer and presentation areas offer new opportunities for dialogue with customers and partners. Customer requirements, technical knowledge and industry expertise can be brought together at an early stage, enabling TII Group teams to jointly develop suitable and cost-effective solutions.

The new headquarters provides more than 200 modern workstations for the teams and specialist departments based there and incorporates a flexible workplace concept alongside hybrid working arrangements. In total, the TII Group employs more than 600 people at its Pfedelbach site. More than 1,000 employees work for the TII Group worldwide.

“Our customers move loads where there is no room for compromise. They expect safe, precise and cost-effective solutions, often for challenges that have never been solved before. In our new headquarters, we are bringing technical expertise, practical application experience and customer proximity even closer together. This enables us to translate customer requirements into intelligent vehicle solutions more quickly,” explains Dr Gerald Karch, Chairman of the TII Group board.

The completed headquarters is just one of the components of the comprehensive development of the successful Pfedelbach site. The TII Group will gradually modernise the entire production operation in Pfedelbach. Existing production halls will be dismantled and replaced with modern facilities designed to support a powerful, efficient and sustainable site and manufacturing strategy.

The new halls will make it possible to redesign manufacturing, assembly and logistics processes from the ground up. This includes optimised material flows, suitable assembly and manoeuvring areas, and an infrastructure that remains flexible enough to accommodate future products, machinery and manufacturing methods.

“The TII Group has doubled its revenue over the past few years. Through the largest investment in our company’s history, we are now creating the conditions needed to continue this successful journey. The new headquarters and the renewal of our production facilities strengthen our collaboration, technological expertise and industrial capabilities. This will provide an additional foundation for efficient growth in Pfedelbach,” says Filippo Baldassari, Managing Director of the TII Group.

The TII Group operates two production sites in Germany, located in Pfedelbach and Ulm. In addition, TII has a manufacturing facility in the New Delhi region of India. Each site contributes its own areas of expertise to the Group and complements the others within the international production network.

This international presence is a key factor behind the TII Group’s global success. It enables the company to serve different markets and customers effectively, respond flexibly to regional requirements and offer suitable solutions worldwide.

The TII Group is deliberately investing in its industrial base in Germany. The new headquarters and the renewal of the production halls are creating modern, sustainable conditions for technology development and manufacturing in Pfedelbach. For the TII Group, international presence and industrial strength in Germany go hand in hand.

The investments in Pfedelbach form part of the TII Group’s long-term growth and modernisation strategy. The company continues to develop all its sites in a targeted manner while strengthening both technological capabilities and industrial capacity. In Ulm, the TII Group is investing particularly in future technologies such as electromobility. At the same time, the production site in Bawal, India, has undergone extensive expansion in recent years. As a result, the company is strengthening its international manufacturing capabilities and creating the conditions for further growth in key future markets.

TII SCHEUERLE, a brand of TII, combines more than 150 years of experience with the ambition to make extraordinary transport challenges safe, fast and reliable.

The innovation history of the Pfedelbach site has repeatedly shaped the heavy transport industry. In the 1950s, Willy Scheuerle developed the hydraulically supported pendulum axle. Its core technical principle ensures even axle load distribution while allowing wheels to maintain ground contact on uneven terrain. To this day, the hydraulically supported pendulum axle remains a technological foundation of modern platform vehicles.

In 1983, another groundbreaking innovation followed with the Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT). The SCHEUERLE SPMT can be combined from individual modules into transport combinations of virtually unlimited size and manoeuvred with exceptional precision thanks to its electronic multi-directional steering. This made transports with theoretically unlimited payloads possible. At the same time, the technology transformed industrial production concepts, allowing large plants and structures to be manufactured in heavy prefabricated modules and transported efficiently to their final destination. The world’s largest installed base of SPMT axle lines, which remain compatible across vehicle generations, provides TII Group customers with significant economic advantages when executing transport projects.

TII KAMAG has also transformed industrial processes through application-specific vehicle concepts. A prime example is the KAMAG SlagPotCarrier, developed for the safe and efficient transport of molten slag under extreme conditions in steelworks. Depending on infrastructure and operational requirements, different vehicle concepts are available, enabling high payloads, short handling times and reliable 24/7 operation.

Since 1995, the KAMAG PrecisionMover has also been shaping yard logistics operations. The highly agile swap-body transporter manoeuvres swap bodies and semi-trailers quickly and precisely, even in extremely confined spaces. Today, the KAMAG PrecisionMover is also available as a fully electric vehicle.

The importance of specialised transport and logistics solutions extends far beyond individual spectacular projects. Before a new wind turbine can start turning, a bridge can carry traffic, a ship can be launched or a rocket can embark on its journey into space, extremely heavy and highly sensitive components often need to be transported safely and positioned with precision.

The following examples represent only a small selection of the many possible applications. They illustrate projects realised with TII SCHEUERLE transport solutions at regional, national and international level and provide insight into the challenges this technology helps overcome around the world.

A recent example was the transport of Hamburg’s new Stern Bridge in July 2026. An international heavy transport and specialised logistics provider moved the approximately 3,700-tonne, 108-metre-long railway bridge around 500 metres through the densely built-up district of Altona on SCHEUERLE SPMTs before positioning it with millimetre precision at its final location.

TII vehicles are also used in projects of extraordinary scale across Europe. In Norway, a 17,500-tonne oil platform was loaded onto a barge using a combination of 580 axle lines. The project utilised both the SCHEUERLE SPMT and the SCHEUERLE SPMT K24 in a coordinated operation.

An example from China demonstrates that the technology can be used not only to move industrial plants and infrastructure components, but even entire buildings. In 2023, a complex of five historic buildings belonging to the Ningxia Saishang Jiangnan Museum was relocated over a distance of 600 metres using 300 SCHEUERLE SPMT axle lines. The main building alone stood 43 metres high and weighed approximately 10,000 tonnes.

The international capability of the technology is further illustrated by a transport project of unprecedented scale in the United States. In Texas in 2024, an offshore wind turbine installation vessel weighing more than 23,000 tonnes was moved from the shipyard to the water on SCHEUERLE SPMTs. The load was distributed across 880 axle lines with approximately 3,500 wheels and powered by 28 power packs. The operation set three world records and also supported the expansion of offshore wind energy in the United States.

The largest investment in the company’s history is the result of close cooperation between the shareholder family and the management of the TII Group. Together, they shape the Group’s long-term strategy and translate it into concrete business decisions and actions.

For the shareholder family, it holds special significance that the TII Group is announcing the largest investment in its history in the year marking the 100th birthday of its founder, Otto Rettenmaier. The investment continues his entrepreneurial vision while laying the foundation for the next chapter of the TII Group.

“Pfedelbach is closely connected to the history and development of our company. By making the largest investment in our company’s history, we as shareholders are embracing our entrepreneurial responsibility and creating the conditions for a successful future for the TII Group. We are investing in modern working conditions, high-performance manufacturing and, above all, in the people whose knowledge, experience and passion define TII,” explains Susanne Rettenmaier, Managing Director of the Rettenmaier Familienholding GmbH and daughter of TII Group founder Otto Rettenmaier.
