Seaway7 completes scope on the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm
0Seaway7 are proud to announce the successful completion of our scope on the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm, located in the Taiwan Strait.
Awarded in 2018, this nearly six-year journey has culminated in the successful delivery of clean energy from 80 wind turbine generators to Taiwanâs power grid via two onshore substations in Yunlin County. With a capacity of 640 MW, the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is one of Taiwanâs largest offshore wind farm projectsâproviding renewable electricity to over 600,000 households.
Seaway7âs scope included: Drilling and installing 12 HDD ducts for cable landfalls; Supplying and installing 12 export and 69 inner array grid cables, including termination and testing; Post-lay trenching of all cables; Diving operations for nearshore trenching.
As our first project in Taiwan, the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm played a key role in helping us build a strong local team and establish a reliable Taiwanese offshore wind farm supply chain. We developed in-country solutions for logistics and diving, and in collaboration with Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) we provided a localized cable installation campaign using the MV Orient Adventurer.
Throughout the project, our teams successfully managed a range of technical and environmental challengesâfrom shifting seabed conditions to strong currents and limited underwater visibility. Weâre proud of how this project has contributed to the continued growth of our Taiwan office and local capabilities.
A huge thank you to our team in Taiwan and all those who contributedâonshore and offshore. Your hard work, professionalism, and perseverance made this milestone possible.
We also extend our thanks to Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd. and its shareholdersâSkyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, EGCO Group, and Sojitz Corporationâfor their collaboration and support throughout.
