Comments Off on Rhenus expands Fresh vertical in ChileThe Rhenus Group, a leading global logistics service provider, officially announced the expansion of its perishable vertical, Rhenus Fresh, in Chile.
With a dedicated team of specialists spearheading this venture, Rhenus Chile will provide fresh logistics services, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of temperature-sensitive products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and other time-critical perishables.
This development represents a significant milestone for the company in the Latin American (LATAM) region, expanding the organization’s expertise in perishable cargo to better support Chile while leveraging the country’s growing demand for the exports of fresh products. Rhenus Fresh is a tailored logistics solution created specifically for the transportation of perishable goods globally.
As the first country in the LATAM region to become a part of this rapidly growing vertical within Rhenus, Chile is strategically positioned to serve domestic and international markets. Chile ranks among the world’s largest fruit exporters and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. According to the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association, Chile exports more than 2.6 million tons of fruit annually to more than 100 countries worldwide.
“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our fresh logistics services into Chile, a country known for its dynamic and diverse agricultural sector,” said Esmerlyn Farias, Managing Director of Rhenus Chile. “Our dedicated team in Chile is fully prepared to uphold the utmost standards of quality and reliability when it comes to transporting perishable goods. We take pride in our mission to boost our exports to countries like China, Spain, and the Netherlands, and this expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing innovative logistics solutions to our customers in the region and beyond.”
Rhenus Chile’s significant trade in fresh perishables with Asia highlights the growing demand for cherries, peaches, blueberries, and other fruits shipped to China. Furthermore, exports of fruits such as apples, avocados, grapes, and kiwi to the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain are in high demand. Rhenus Chile operations go beyond fruits, exporting meats like lamb to Hong Kong and wagyu to Canada, which are sourced from the Punta Arenas region in Chile. This wide variety of perishable exports exemplifies the adaptability of Rhenus and its strategic approach to serving diverse international markets.
Rhenus Fresh originated in North-West Europe, has led a dedicated fresh division since 1921, and serves as a hub for perishables exports to over 150 destinations, covering key logistics hubs in the Netherlands, Norway, the UK and Belgium. Rhenus Fresh has recently expanded with a dedicated team in Spain, supporting Mediterranean trade, and China, facilitating the Asia trade lane from LATAM and vice versa.
Leveraging the company’s global resources and state-of-the-art facilities, Rhenus Chile ensures that these delicate products reach their destinations in optimal condition, preserving their freshness and quality throughout the entire journey. This expansion further underscores the Rhenus mission to simplify and optimize logistics for businesses across diverse industries. Rhenus Fresh will soon expand to other LATAM countries.
