Kalmar has concluded a project with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) for repairs to the leg of a ship-to-shore (STS) crane at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) in Mumbai, India.

The order was booked in Kalmar’s Q2 2024 order intake, and the repair work was completed in January 2025.

JNPA is a leading government-owned container handling port, accounting for around 50% of the total containerised cargo volume at India’s major ports. JNPA has partnered with Nhava NSFT, a joint venture between JM Baxi and CMA, which has procured a 30-year licence to provide container-handling services at one of the four container terminals operating from JNPA.

The STS cranes at NSFT perform a critical role in the loading and unloading of intermodal containers. As part of its Modernisation Services offering, Kalmar was contracted to perform repairs to the leg of one of the STS cranes at NSFT.

Following the announcement on April 9, 2025, of its agreement to acquire Havfram, an international offshore wind contractor based in Norway, DEME (Euronext: DEME) has now successfully completed the acquisition.

The transaction, valued at approximately 900 million euros, has passed all customary closing conditions. DEME Offshore Holding NV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DEME Group NV, has acquired all of the shares in Havfram Wind Holdco AS from Sandbrook Capital and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments). The acquisition of Havfram supports DEME’s ambition to expand its presence in the offshore wind energy market and the integration is expected to further strengthen DEME’s competitive positioning in turbine and foundation installations.

During bauma 2025 in Munich, Italian lifting and transport company Autotrasporti Porro confirmed its confidence in Tadano and for two new all-terrain cranes: the powerful AC 7.450-1 and the versatile AC 4.080-1.

With this move, the Erba-based company is further expanding its lifting capabilities to serve a broad range of applications – from heavy industry to infrastructure projects.

Marco Cesari, Diego Cesari, and Luca Fumagalli, co-owners of Autotrasporti Porro, are clear about what led to the decision: “We were looking for two cranes that would complement each other perfectly – one for heavy lifting and long reach, and one for jobs where space and mobility matter most. The AC 7.450-1 and AC 4.080-1 give us exactly that combination. The seven-axle AC 7.450-1 offers the reach and lifting performance of an eight-axle crane, while maintaining the compact footprint of a six-axle. Its 80-meter main boom, outstanding accessibility, and strong lifting charts with or without the Sideways Superlift system make it a benchmark in its class.

The AC 4.080-1 is designed for maximum versatility in a compact package. With best-in-class jobsite accessibility and the ability to carry up to 9.3 tonnes of counterweight while staying under a 12-tonne axle load limit, it’s ideal for projects with challenging logistics – whether used as a main crane or in a supporting role.

MS Global Freight Solution Sdn. Bhd., a member of the Project Logistics Alliance representing Malaysia, has recently completed a major breakbulk shipment, successfully transporting columns from Malaysia to Indonesia.

The shipment comprised 12 packages, weighing a total of 100,132 kgs and measuring 796.55 CBM. The largest item measured 1137 x 469 x 495 cm and weighed 26,500 kg.

To facilitate the movement, MS Global Freight Solution fixed a breakbulk vessel to handle the cargo—demonstrating their expertise in coordinating complex project logistics operations. The columns were then shipped from Port Klang, Malaysia, to Panjang, Indonesia.

With strategic hubs in Port Klang, Johor Bahru, and Penang, MS Global Freight Solution offers a full range of project logistics services. These include feasibility studies, road surveys, method statement preparations, and complete execution and supervision of packing, transportation, loading, lashing, unloading, and final placement at the consignee’s site.

Sarens recently completed a key project at Energía Valle de México II in Axapusco, Hidalgo, supporting the assembly of a new 65-tonne energy rotor under tight timelines and spatial constraints.

Commissioned by EVM (Energía del Valle de México), the project began in January 2025 and involved the deployment of the powerful AC700 crane, configured to lift up to 500 tonnes. The AC700 was selected after the initially planned GMK7450 became unavailable, and it proved to be the ideal alternative, offering both the capacity and flexibility needed to work efficiently within the jobsite’s limited space.

Following an emergency request from the client, Sarens mobilised swiftly, transporting the crane from Monterrey to Axapusco in just three days. Assembly was completed in a single day, with lifting operations commencing as soon as production downtime allowed. The rotor replacement was carried out with precision, significantly enhancing the plant’s output while contributing to cleaner and more efficient energy generation for the region.

Sarens was selected not only for offering the most competitive proposal, but also for its ability to mobilise rapidly, thanks to its strong local presence.

According to the client, the AC700 performed seamlessly, adapting perfectly to site conditions and meeting all lifting requirements.

The crane remains on site, continuing to support the installation of the new rotor as part of this critical infrastructure upgrade.

In line with Kalmar’s strategy of growing services, Kalmar will be relocating and outsourcing its Genuine Parts warehouse from Ottawa, Kansas to Greenwood, Indiana.

The move will lead to improvements in delivery times, customer support as well as enable the further growth of Kalmar’s Genuine Parts and Service businesses. The new Greenwood distribution center allows Kalmar to store all parts in one stand-alone location with 112,000 sq ft facility providing greater flexibility and scalability of operations.

The transition process is scheduled to begin in May 2025 and be completed by the end of July 2025. Kalmar will partner with Neovia Logistics, a Texas-based contract logistics company. Neovia is a global expert in warehouse operations with 7,500 employees and a presence in 19 countries. Neovia has operated the Kalmar Distribution Center in Europe since 2003.

CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, will strengthen its global footprint in a key market as the company announced today the signing of a binding agreement to acquire 100 percent of Borusan Tedarik Zinciri Çözümleri ve Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi.

The signed share transfer agreement lists a total transfer price of $440 million (USD) subject to ordinary net cash and working capital adjustments. Privately held Borusan Holding has 69.47 percent of Borusan Tedarik’s shares, while the remaining 30.53 percent is held by publicly traded Borusan Yatırım. The deal, which includes Borusan Tedarik subsidiaries in Germany, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and China, remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

With roots going back more than 50 years, Borusan Tedarik offers comprehensive logistics solutions in Turkey, including contract logistics, finished vehicle logistics (FVL), full truckload (FTL) and less than truckload (LTL) ground transport, as well as air and ocean freight and customs. With 2024 gross revenue of $567 million (USD), Borusan Tedarik serves a diversified customer base of global customers, as well as domestic leaders who would benefit from CEVA’s strong global network.

CEVA Logistics would welcome approximately 4,000 employees working with Borusan Tedarik. Adding the logistics activities of Borusan Tedarik would strengthen CEVA’s current position in Turkey, with a strong offering in each of its core products—air, ocean and ground transport, contract logistics and FVL.

The acquisition would nearly double the size of CEVA’s domestic warehousing and distribution operations, adding approximately 570,000 square meters to its existing 620,000 square meters of warehouse space. In addition, the combined ground transport activities would execute nearly 1 million domestic transports per year, while Borusan Tedarik’s activities would also strengthen CEVA’s existing network connecting with Europe. Borusan Tedarik’s relationships in the automotive industry would boost CEVA’s domestic FVL operations into a Top 3 position. Finally, CEVA’s ocean capacity would increase by 25 percent, while its air capabilities would rank among the Top 5 in Turkey.

Students at the Maritime Institute Mercator in Ostend can now gain additional practical experience thanks to a new maritime simulator.

Unveiled this week in the presence of Flemish Minister of Fisheries Hilde Crevits, this innovative simulator enables students to practice navigating in poor weather conditions as well as other challenging scenarios without having to actually go out to sea.

The simulator represents a valuable addition for students in the maritime navigation, maritime fishing, and maritime techniques deck programs. Thanks to this simulator, students from the Maritime Institute in Ostend will get to experience realistic scenarios and should immediately be able to improve their skills in terms of navigation, communication, and decision-making at sea. In addition to gaining practical experience, the students will also earn partial certificates that will assist them in their future careers. Furthermore, the simulator will allow them to practice both simple scenarios for learning basic skills and complex situations that will help them master crisis management and navigation.

Balena Projects would like to share another project that they successfully completed involving the movement of a transformer.

The cargo, along with its accessorial pieces, weighed 138 metric tons.

This operation involved rolling the transformer onto a Mafi trailer from the vessel, which was executed with precision, coordination, and efficiency.

Balena Projects successfully discharged the cargo from a RO/RO vessel at the Port of Baltimore, MD.

An independent surveyor was present on-board to oversee the entire discharge process, and confirmed that all units were handled properly and arrived in good condition with no damage reported.

Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been awarded a contract in the USA to provide dynamic positioning (DP) trials and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for towing, salvage and rescue ships.

In addition to FMEA and DP trials, ABL will provide critical systems documents, periodic safety testing procedure (PSTP), quantitative failure analysis (QFA), motor control centre manual, and design verification testing procedure (DVTP).

The project is managed and executed by ABL’s USA DP and critical systems’ team, based in Houston, USA.

These new vessels will provide ocean-going tug, salvage, and rescue capabilities to support a multi mission common hull platform capable of towing heavy ships. These ships will also be able to support current missions, including oil spill response, humanitarian assistance, and wide area search and surveillance.
