Sarens supports installation in Dublin

0

Sarens supported the installation of a gas turbine and generator for a new gas plant in Dublin, Ireland.

The technical solutions and engineering project required the positioning of two major components within a highly constrained building environment.

The gas turbine weighed 335 tonnes, while the generator weighed 308 tonnes. Sarens deployed the Sarlift 2500 and Sarskid 310 to carry out the installation works, with the equipment remaining on site for approximately three weeks.

One of the main challenges was the limited space available for installation. The steel frame around the gas turbine and generator were already being built, leaving only an 11,5 m x 11,5 m opening to access the building. Due to the size of the cargo and the existing foundations, the available space for Sarens’ equipment was extremely limited.

To address these constraints, Sarens developed custom top beams that could fit within the available dimensions. The outside dimensions of the gantry measured 11,0 m x 11,3 m, leaving just 25 cm on either side and 20 cm at the top to skid the components inside the building.

Through this tailored gantry and skidding solution, Sarens enabled the installation of the gas turbine and generator within demanding access limitations, demonstrating its ability to adapt equipment and methodology to complex site conditions.
