FLS Singapore completes delivery to Ghana

FLS Group Singapore, a member of the Project Logistics Alliance, has completed the delivery of a crew boat from Jurong port, Singapore, to Takoradi, Ghana.

The Aluminium Monohull Fast Multi-Role Security Vessel, which weighed 160 tons, will be used for relocating personnel from and to the deployment area at its final destination.

The 40-meter-long, 7.6-meter-wide, and 8.5-meter-high cargo was loaded overside from water onto a vessel deck and transported by sea to Takoradi, covering a total distance of over 10,000 kilometres. Upon arrival at the port of discharge, the FLS Singapore team worked with a crane vessel to unload the crew boat directly onto the water.

Thanks to FLS Singapore’s meticulous attention to safety, the vessel was successfully loaded and unloaded without any damage. This successful delivery is another testament to FLS Singapore’s expertise in project logistics.

MacGregor receives large order for equipment for a cruise vessel

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a large order for a comprehensive package of access equipment for a cruise vessel, which will be built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France.

The order was booked into Cargotec’s 2023 second quarter orders received. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner during the fourth quarter of 2025.

MacGregor’s scope of supply encompasses design, hardware and commissioning of lifting and other platforms, shell doors, hatch covers and automatic gangways.

Kalmar forklift trucks to enhance sustainability

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal to supply UK material handling equipment (MHE) provider BJB Lift Trucks Ltd. (BJB) with 15 medium electric forklift trucks.

The large order was booked in Cargotec’s Q2 2023 order intake with delivery scheduled for Q4 2023.

BJB is a leading provider of MHE solutions across the United Kingdom. Headquartered in Grimsby in the country’s East Midlands region, the company serves customers across the UK with a wide range of forklift truck and industrial and construction machine solutions as well as operator training services. Logistics Plus coordinates shipment of an excavator

Logistics Plus, our members from India, are glad to share a successful project shipment they recently handled from India to Kenya.

The cargo consisted of a hydraulic excavator, weighing 22 tons, which travelled from India to Mombasa.

Logistics Plus used a 40′ flat rack to transport the cargo on a RO/RO basis as per their client’s requirements.

“We have secured business to ship such equipment from India to Africa each month.”

HYPORT signs major agreement with Hydrom

DEME, a leading international contractor and developer, and OQ, a global integrated energy group, have signed a Project Development Agreement with Hydromfor the pioneering HYPORT Duqm project, which will produce green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Hydrom is orchestrating Oman’s national interest in green hydrogen, isfully owned by Energy Development OMAN and regulated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

HYPORT Duqm is being developed by DEME Concessions and OQ on an area of 150 square km. The area, which is part of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, is designed to produce wind power and solar energy with a combined renewable power capacity of around 1.3 GW in Phase 1 and potentially over 2.7 GW when Phase 2 is realised. The first phase of the project is set to produce approximately 330,000 tonnes of green ammonia and more than 650,000 tonnes during the second phase.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the HYPORT Coordination Company by Najla bint Zuhair Al-Jamali, Chief Executive of Alternative Energy at OQ, and Martin D’Uva, Managing Director of DEME Concessions.

Detailed engineering for HYPORT Duqm will now start and the subsequent construction of both the renewable power and downstream sites where the green hydrogen (electrolyser) and green ammonia plants will be located.

Najla Zuhair Al-Jamali, Chief Executive of Alternative Energy at OQ, said: “Together with DEME, we are pleased to sign this agreement to develop the HYPORT Duqm project in the Special Economic Zone, a global centre to produce green hydrogen, which combines renewable energy, manufacturing, downstream and logistics activities with a focus on decarbonisation efforts and electricity production.”

The HYPORT Duqm project is part of Oman’s Vision 2040. Najla Zuhair Al-Jamali added that this agreement reflect the commitment of the OQ Group to realize this plan, noting that this is an important step towards achieving zero carbon neutrality by the year 2050, and positioning the Sultanate of Oman as a global centre for green industries.

Martin D’Uva, Managing Director DEME Concessions, emphasised: “After nearly three years of joint development with our partner OQ, we are thrilled to accelerate our transformative journey towards a green hydrogen-powered future and to support Oman in achieving its ambitious green energy targets, while strengthening DEME’s long-term presence in Oman. The project will harness the immense potential of hydrogen as a clean and versatile energy carrier, leveraging Oman’s strategic location and abundant renewable resources to establish a robust green hydrogen ecosystem.

Tanks with dimensions of 13.5 meter and a weight of 15 tons and 15.5 meter long Pipe spools for a mining project formed part of this project cargo shipment, which was moved multimodal overland and oceans utilizing heavy haulage, cranes, barges and heavy lift ocean vessel.

Star Shipping delivers electric cars to Jebel Ali

Star Shipping, our members from Pakistan, are glad to share a shipment of twenty-six electric cars they recently completed.

The full load weighed in at 28,470 kilograms with a volume of 212 cbm.

Star Shipping received the electric vehicles from Lianyungang, China and covered a wide scope of operations: including but not limited to ex-works from factory to port.

A RO/RO vessel was chosen by the company for this shipment, with the cargo being discharged at Jebel Ali before onward delivery to their client.

Cargotec and SSAB partner to bring new zero-emission recycled steel

Cargotec and SSAB are taking their partnership to the next level by introducing SSAB Zero, a fossil carbon emission-free recycled steel, to the cargo and load handling industry.

Cargotec plans to gradually start using this steel in its products this year.

The collaboration on SSAB Zero is a natural next step where Cargotec and SSAB continue their work together to reduce impact on climate in cargo and load handling solutions. The partnership has already resulted in the introduction of the world’s first load-handling equipment, a MULTILIFT hooklift, made with fossil-free steel. A prototype of this hooklift was unveiled by Hiab, part of Cargotec, in September 2022.

Approximately 26 percent of Cargotec’s total greenhouse gas emissions came from purchased goods in 2022. Decarbonising Cargotec’s supply chain is an important step in achieving the company’s ambitious science-based climate target, which is to reduce value chain emissions by 50 percent by 2030. SSAB Zero and, eventually, fossil-free steel will be key factors in this mission.

“As a provider of cargo and load handling equipment and solutions we are a major user of steel. Whenever possible, we give preference to materials with a smaller carbon footprint than traditional alternatives, and SSAB Zero provides a zero-emission and circular solution,” says Päivi Koivisto, Vice President Sustainability at Cargotec. “This is an important step on the journey towards fossil-free steel, and a great opportunity for Cargotec to grow its low and zero-emission offering.”

Fossil fuels remain in the ground as SSAB has implemented a system to manage and ensure the correct source and use of alternatives connected to the production of SSAB Zero. Only recycled steel is used as a raw material, which means SSAB Zero supports the circular economy. Neither Cargotec nor SSAB engage in carbon emission offsetting activities.

Schmidbauer takes delivery of Tadano City cranes

If there is one thing that the team at Schmidbauer knows, it is that the Tadano AC 3.045-1 is a fantastic crane – that is why the company ordered six of them last year.

Tadano delivered the first three back in November, and numbers four and five have been handed over now: One of them is intended for the Fricke-Schmidbauer location in Brunswick, while the other is meant for Schmidbauer in Ingolstadt.

Fricke-Schmidbauer had already received one crane from the first delivery, and the team there is very happy with it: “The extremely compact AC 3.045-1 City is simply our crane of choice when it comes to projects in urban areas and tight work sites. That’s why our team is really excited about getting another one of these cranes for our fleet,” reports Fricke-Schmidbauer Managing Director Dr. Mitja Schimek. His colleague Christian Schlagbauer, the branch manager at Schmidbauer in Ingolstadt, also has words of praise for the compact design and the resulting maneuverability behind the AC 3.045-1 City. “On top of that, the crane has extraordinary lifting capacities – generally and, especially, when telescoping under load. This makes it simply unbeatable from our perspective when it comes to indoor projects,” he adds.

Christoffer Josefsson joins Bertling Bulk Liquids as business developer

Christoffer Josefsson started working with Operations in the Key Account Department in 2021.

After one year he joined the Bulk Liquids team to work as a business developer, which is and has been his current role for the past 1,5 years.

“I applied for the job at Bertling during my fourth semester at The School of Business, Economics, and Law here in Gothenburg. At that time, I studied for a Bachelor’s in logistics and business administration. I heard of Bertling already at the beginning of my bachelor studies as they work closely with the university. Since my studies included both business administration and logistics, Bertling seemed like the perfect match to gain practical experience within my field of studies.” Christoffer comments.

Before he joined Bertling, Christoffer worked for two years in his hometown, VäxjÜ, he later moved to Gothenburg to study. In his first year at the University, he worked part-time at HandelsConsulting AB as a management consultant and was later promoted to project leader. During his time at HandelsConsulting he gained a lot of experience that has been valuable in his role as a Business Developer for Bulk Liquids.

“In my role as a Business Developer, my main task is to improve and develop Bulk Liquid’s businesses. My most important task is to find new customers through sales, but also to streamline or create bigger value for already existing clients.”

Now, he works part-time while he is studying for a master’s degree.

“I really enjoy my role as a Business Developer since it’s very much aligned with my current master’s studies in Innovation & Industrial Management. Bertling is also a great workplace where you get the chance to develop, learn new things, and challenge yourself.”

Christoffer says and continues: “After more than two years in the company, I believe the reason for choosing Bertling for me has been the amount of confidence and responsibility given to me by my employer. Since my studies included both business administration and logistics, Bertling seemed like the perfect match to gain practical experience within my field of studies.” Christoffer comments.

Before he joined Bertling, Christoffer worked for two years in his hometown, VäxjÜ, he later moved to Gothenburg to study. In his first year at the University, he worked part-time at HandelsConsulting AB as a management consultant and was later promoted to project leader. During his time at HandelsConsulting he gained a lot of experience that has been valuable in his role as a Business Developer for Bulk Liquids.

“In my role as a Business Developer, my main task is to improve and develop Bulk Liquid’s businesses. My most important task is to find new customers through sales, but also to streamline or create bigger value for already existing clients.”

Now, he works part-time while he is studying for a master’s degree.

“I really enjoy my role as a Business Developer since it’s very much aligned with my current master’s studies in Innovation & Industrial Management. Bertling is also a great workplace where you get the chance to develop, learn new things, and challenge yourself.”

DEME awarded contracts for the Dieppe Le Treport wind farm

DEME Offshore has been awarded three contracts (1) for the Dieppe Le TrĂŠport offshore wind farm in France.

This is the third large-scale offshore wind farm project for DEME in France following groundbreaking solutions deployed at Saint-Nazaire and the recent contract award of Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier wind farm.

The contracts include the transport and installation of the pin piles and jackets forming the foundations for the turbines, as well as the transport and installation of the pin piles, the jacket and the topside for the offshore substation. DEME Offshore will also carry out the EPCI scope (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) for 120 km of inter-array cables.

The Dieppe Le TrĂŠport wind farm is owned by a consortium made up of Ocean Winds (Engie-EDPR), Sumitomo Corporation and Banque des Territoires. DEME Offshore was chosen for its proven track record installing this type of jacket foundations, its cable laying expertise, and extensive experience of working on offshore wind farms with challenging site conditions.

Dieppe Le TrĂŠport has similarities to the 950 MW Moray East offshore wind farm in Scotland, whereDEME Offshore performed the full EPCI scope for 100 foundations and three offshore substations for Ocean Winds. DEME Offshore developed its own techniques for this project, and these will also be deployed at Dieppe Le TrĂŠport, including a specialised rig and a jacket levelling and fixation system.

Piling operations for the offshore substation foundation are set to start in 2024 and the jacket foundation installation in the following year. One of DEME’s cable installation vessels is set to perform the cable laying scope, following the installation of the substation.

DEME Offshore is building up an impressive track record in France. Dieppe Le Tréport follows the successful installation of the XXL monopile foundations at Saint-Nazaire and the contract award for the installation of monopile foundations and the substation for the Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm projects. DEME Offshore has also successfully completed the transport and installation of the offshore substations of Saint-Nazaire, Fécamp and Calvados.

With 62 turbines located off Dieppe and Le TrĂŠport, the wind farm is set to supply nearly 850,000 people with sustainable electricity.

TII KAMAG acquires partner in Denmark

TII KAMAG has strengthened its sales and service activities for yard logistics vehicles in Den-mark.

To this end, the industry expert for industrial and yard logistics vehicles from the TII Group is working together with Toyota Material Handling Danmark. Through this partnership, TII KAMAG aims to expand the existing and new customer business in the regional yard logistics segment.

In addition, Toyota MH Danmark will undertake the servicing of the vehicles as well as supplying vehicle fleets with spare parts. Products include the KAMAG PrecisionTractor (PT) terminal tractor and the KAMAG PrecisionMover (PM) swap body transporter, which is also known as the KAMAG Wiesel, including the respective electrically-powered zero-emission versions.

With range of vehicles provided by the TII industry specialist, the supplier of Toyota brand forklifts and automated transport systems has complemented its business operations with the addition of transport solutions for yard logistics. Huisman celebrates 25 years located in Schiedam

This year, Huisman has been located in the Wiltonhaven in Schiedam (NL), the Netherlands for 25 years.

The company moved to the Admiraal Trompstraat location at the end of 1998. Here, it grew into a global player in large cranes, installation equipment for offshore wind farms, and pipelay and drilling equipment for the world’s leading companies in the energy sector.

Huisman moved 25 years ago with approximately 180 employees, from a small location on Linschotenstraat in the city of Rotterdam to the former site of the Wilton Feijenoord shipyard. Today, the company has more than 500 employees working in Schiedam.

The Wiltonhaven is a strategic location for Huisman, offering access for seagoing vessels from the New Waterway. Huisman has a quayside of more than 300 metres with cranes able to install equipment to moored vessels.

In 2012, Huisman completed the construction of a 66-metre-high production hall, enabling it to produce, test and commission most products in-house.

Huisman then expanded its facilities in 2016 with the construction of a 90-metre-high drilling tower. This Huisman Innovation Tower (HIT) is used to demonstrate Huisman drilling equipment, for example for the geothermal industry, to develop future equipment and systems, and for training Huisman operators and employees.

Huisman was founded in 1929 by Mr M.M. Huisman as a steel construction company and has been owned by the Roodenburg family since 1980. At the time, the company had about 20 employees. The third generation of the family now manages the company, which employs more than 2,200 people worldwide. Besides the head office in Schiedam, Huisman’s activities are spread over production facilities and offices in China, the Czech Republic, Norway, Singapore, Brazil and the US.

During its 93 years of existence, Huisman has delivered pioneering solutions to various industries worldwide. Today, Huisman is an important player in the global energy transition. MacGregor extends run of orders from Edda Wind

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has extended its run of orders for walk-to-work gangway technology from Edda Wind, after receiving a contract to equip the 8th service vessel in succession for the Østensjø Group operation.

The new walk-to-work system contract was booked into Cargotec’s first quarter 2023 orders received and the vessel will be delivered in the third quarter of 2024. Once again, the vessel will be equipped with MacGregor’s distinctive Horizon, all-electric walk-to-work gangway – the sector-leading sustainable technology whose ability to deliver lowest possible emissions significantly reduces the vessel’s overall environmental footprint. The redundancy level of the equipment exceeds class requirements, ensuring the minimum level of unplanned downtime.

The Horizon gangway also ensures optimised logistics flow, offering the widest gangway bridge currently available and the largest passenger lift integrated on a gangway tower structure, which offers stepless connection from deck levels to gangway level. Its safety and efficiency are enhanced by an augmented reality operator station (AROS), which also increases logistics support by allowing a single operator to seamlessly change between crane and gangway operation from a centralised control station on the vessel’s bridge. The system is also interconnected to a Colibri 5 tonne 3D motion compensated crane, whose design is distinguished by its agility in compensating loads in 3D mode.

The order is a result of MacGregor’s long collaboration with Edda Wind, and MacGregor’s involvement from an early design stage has ensured that the position of the equipment is optimised for overall vessel efficiency.
