Comments Off on C&A and Rhenus establish a logistics networkRhenus Warehousing Solutions has gained the C&A fashion chain as a new customer at its business site in Hückelhoven.
C&A will make use of Rhenus’ consolidation and deconsolidation services from now on and utilise the facility as the central hub for its business activities in Europe.
C&A currently operates 1,300 stores in Europe and is one of the leading providers of clothing. The family business will make use of Rhenus Warehousing Solution’s skills and experience in consolidating and deconsolidating its goods at the Rhenus business site in Hückelhoven with immediate effect. Many of the items arrive at Hückelhoven as ocean freight. Overall, the business site will act as C&A’s central hub for Europe and serve all its European distribution centres. “The fashion market is currently undergoing momentous change – away from collections that are planned a long time in advance to production that is geared towards demand. This is also creating new and much more complex challenges for logistics operations. Following the initial discussions, it was clear to us that Rhenus and particularly the team in Hückelhoven have the right skills and the correct degree of customer orientation to work with us and achieve our goals in this challenging environment,” says Alvaro Ranz, the Head of Inbound Logistics and Supply Planning at C&A, recalling the recent past. The modern logistics centre has 120,000 square metres of interior warehouse space and is ideally located at important transport intersections through its proximity to the Dutch border. The logistics specialist serves the following sectors at its multi-user facility: e-commerce, electronics & high-tech, industry, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals & health care as well as retail & fashion.
“We’re very proud to be able to welcome C&A as a new customer and we’re looking forward to a successful, long-term partnership,” says Andreas Meyer, a member of the management team at Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Germany. “The undertaking given by a company with such international business operations to handle its warehouse logistics at our business site in Hückelhoven is a confirmation of the quality of our services and our infrastructure.” At the same time, the cooperation arrangement with C&A will have positive effects on the Hückelhoven region: it will create many new jobs and help strengthen the local economy. Thanks to their cooperation, Rhenus and C&A are reinforcing their dedication to pursue future-oriented logistics solutions.
